During our time in Venice, we stayed away from the most popular attractions, at least in the daytime... instead, we explored less crowded places. At night however, the streets and canals are virtually empty,

and you can experience the magic of even the most popular spots with almost no one around. The Rialto bridge..

so different from a few hours ago, when it was swaying with a thousand feet.

A few blocks away, hidden in a side street, the Da Fiore restaurant specialises in sea food..

Venice's famous Murano glass adds colorful touches to the warm and cosy interior

we settle in..

Walking back to the hotel through dimly lit streets and squares.

Nearing midnight, the ever buzzing St Mark's square is almost deserted,

and the café's musicians have finished playing their last tune..

Venice goes to sleep,

and the gondolas are tucked away for the night
