As in most parts of France, all villages in our area hold weekly markets with mainly local produce. None of them fall on the same day, so that one could buy groceries at the market every day of the week. If we've missed our local on Saturdays, or if it has been raining, we sometimes catch up on the Sunday market in the next village down the road.

It was mild enough to sit outside, and we got some baguette, cheese, salami and olives from the market stalls, and had them with a glass of wine at the café. Everyone else was doing the same thing, and it is such a nice custom in France that café owners welcome their guests to share the market fare at their tables.
